Description: The Penn State Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders has recently completed ground-breaking research on early intervention to maximize language and communication with young children who have developmental disabilities such as autism, cerebral palsy, and Down syndrome. There is a comprehensive website with step-by-step information, as well as photographs and video clips demonstrating young kids in action, at http://aackids.psu.edu. Children as young as 6 months old who were at risk for significant communication difficulties were successful participants in this program.
